In my portfolio, I must include some
type of mixed media work. I have created to pieces one on photoshop and the
other sewn then edit on photoshop. Both these pieces have been taken from
magazines as inspiration.
The first piece of mixed media work I produced last
year in year one in our mixed media lesson. I found my inspiration from a
picture in a magazine article. I stitched the outline of the models on calico
then cut out the garments and found relevant fabrics to put underneath. I was very happy with the outcome of this work and I
found it quite easy to create. For my portfolio, I wanted to include this piece with
an edit photoshop version as well. I wanted to recreate it to look different.
This what I created from my fabricated mixed media. As my mixed media was made on calico I looked quite
boring so I decided to change the background. Of course, I wanted to change the
background to the streets of my favourite fashion capital city. I used a
picture of the streets in New York – I have aligned them on the zebra crossing.
I went over some lines as well to define them as the stitching is quite faded.
